Till today, in some remote areas of Nepal, they cure the patients with spiritual healing power and enchanting power to make better psychologically. They give the natural medicines of organic plants too. They worship for trees, cliffs, winds, sky, Rivers, fire, steeps etc. They have belief that the deities and goddess stay in those natural things. In Tibetan societies, Shamans are known as “Amchi” .
We can meet the Amchis in Dolpo and Mustang till today. In Tamang societies of Nepal, Shamans are known as “Bonpo” and in Brahmin societies Shamans are known as “Jhakri”. They have power to tell farsightedness of the people watching in lines of your paws. They can tell your future fortunes and misfortunes. They shake whole body, play drum with beating stick, group dance performance with white typical Shaman’s uniform. It will be really amazing experience for us.
Every year, in special occasion or full moon day in August, Shamans organize an important dancing and worshiping festival in Gosaikunda Lake of the Langtang trekking region and Timal Narayan Temple in Kavre district.
